On May 20, 2026 HS223 hosted their Annual Talent Show in the Auditorium after school.
The Talent Show features all high school students, freshman through senior, who sing, dance and show off their talents.
“[The Talent Show] gives everybody a break and a chance to do something fun,” said Isabella Rivera (Class of 2026).
While students had a lot of different reasons for participating in the talent show this year, many saw it as a last chance opportunity to participate in something at the school before they graduate.

“I just wanted to do something before I left the school since this is my last year,” said Fernando Galvan (Class of 2026).
Students worked a long time to perfect their entry into the talent show but the show itself had to come together pretty quickly to fit in with everything else that happens during the end of the school year.
“My experience with the Talent Show has been short but sweet. We put it all together in a short amount of time. We are very proud of what we’ve done. Being able to help students work on the [Talent Show] makes me feel like I’ve made an impact on the school community,” said Jayda Caceres (Class of 2026).
The HS223 Talent Show also gives students the opportunity to try out new types of creative outlets.
“This was really fun. I feel like being able to experience new types of dance like hip-hop. Being taught by Ms. Hernandez has been really fun because I feel like I can just be myself,” said Isabella Ranfla (Class of 2029)
Ms. Hernandez, who has been in charge of the talent show since it began, has seen growth in the talent show experience.

“Every year it has gotten bigger and better. It has become a tradition at the school. It now has 15 acts and has become more diverse,” said Ms. Hernandez.
Students continue to see the HS223 Talent Show as an opportunity to show a side of themselves that they don’t normally get to in school.
“What inspired me to do poetry for the Talent Show is because I didn’t really have a lot of outlets for anything so I use poetry as a way to express myself, “ Maxine Clinkscales (Class of 2029).
Inspiration includes others who have done it before continuing a legacy that continues to be a popular event at the end of the school year.
“My friends influenced me to get into the talent show. And if I had a chance to do it again next year, I definitely would,” said Isabella Ranfla.
