As the 2026 senior prom approaches, a “promposal” (the act of asking someone to the prom) is at the front and center of many senior’s minds. Fahim Adika and Aziyah Solis from the class of 2026 present their ideas about a promposal. Both Fahim and Aziyah consider themselves experts on the perfect promposal and are ready to share their ideas with the HS223 community.

FAHIM (Class of 2026)
The question of what is the ideal “promposal” has always been a tricky one.
The setting of the ideal promposal should always take into account whether or not the person being asked is more of an outgoing person or not. It can definitely incorporate things from other promposals but it should always be tailored to the person that is being asked.
I personally think that buying snacks definitely depends on your relationship with the person. If it is someone that you have some sort of romantic relationship with there should definitely be snacks and gifts involved but if not, then no.
In my opinion the ideal promposal should be done right around the time that spring is coming around just because I feel like promposals fit the spring season way more.
If there is a chance that they are told no is always up to personal preference and how a person handles certain things. I personally don’t know if I could take that kind of public embarrassment but if it was a private promposal I would probably be ok with being told no.
Aziyah (Class of 2026)
The ideal promposal should be done in public, whether the people are introverted or extroverted because its not based on being comfortable. It is based on other people seeing you.
The promposal doesn’t have to be 100% original and it is fine to use other promposals as inspiration. But I also feel like it’s a really good idea to have something meaningful between the two people in the promposal, so it shows a little bit of their own personality.
The promposal should always include a snack or a present on the side because it shows how much you listen to what your partner likes. If you don’t really have a good romantic relationship you could just get a little bouquet of flowers.
The ideal promposal should be done less than 3 months in advance because 3 months is more than enough time to decorate and prepare and get a dress. I would recommend having a mutual agreement about going to prom together before asking with a poster.
However, you shouldn’t ask someone you’re not confident in saying yes. But if you know there’s a high chance of them saying yes then you should definitely ask and aim for the stars.
Good luck to everyone with their promposals this year!
