The day before Thanksgiving Break, the HS223 community showed thanks to the Class of 25!
On Wednesday, November 27th, the Class of ’25 enjoyed an annual tradition: the Senior Breakfast. During 2nd period, seniors spent time in each other’s company with a catered breakfast including pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, eggs and more. The breakfast was followed by the first of five award ceremonies for the year.
Overall, students had a great time and the event was well received by students.
“I didn’t eat much but I thought it was a very nice gesture” Adama Bowdry ’25 says.
Miguel Z ’25 shares a similar sentiment.
“I think it was a good experience, we got to enjoy breakfast as a grade. I felt like the food was really good, and the fact that we got 3rds and 2nds. We spent 2 periods with our friends getting food, it couldn’t get better than that.”
Krystal Ortiz ’25 says, “I think it was very beautiful how we all came together to celebrate our last year. I think it was very generous what the school did getting us breakfast and setting up the lunch room. It was a good time we were all together, it made the day go by faster because time flies when you’re having fun.”
Tamia Gonzalez ’25 expressed some disappointment with the food but enjoyed the event as well, she says, “I thought the French toast was dry but overall it was nice, it was very nice and well put together. It would have been better without having to wear uniform.”
Even a dinosaur decided to come out of extinction for this lovely event. Our special prehistoric guest turned out to be our very own Ms Westphal!
Miguel Z ’25 says, “Her being the dinosaur I didn’t expect that, from Westphal. She improved the mood around the room.”
Ms Westphal says, “Why not have some fun! Fun doesn’t go extinct.”
We may never know how dinosaurs managed to come out of extinction millions of years later. However, it is no mystery why the senior breakfast was so well received.
“There was a lot of time and energy put into setting up the senior breakfast.” Ms. Drame, an English teacher says. “Teachers and members of the student council were at the school until 5pm the night before the event setting up.”
On behalf of the entire class of ’25, this Thanksgiving season, we are beyond thankful for our peers, school faculty and staff who made this wonderful event possible.
