Our Newest Poetry Initiative
Poetry is one of my favorite forms of literature, art, and expression. The variety of elements present in poetry make it so that a thousand poems with the same message could all look, sound, and read in distinct ways. As a poetry enthusiast, I am inviting all poets of The Laboratory School of Finance and Technology to submit any and all poetry to a Padlet from the Arts and Entertainment Newspaper Team. Poets can choose to submit artwork that goes along with their work as well, submit anonymously, and include a summary of their work if they include it in their submission. Poems will be chosen weekly and there will be opportunities to be interviewed about their art. Hope to see every poet published in the paper!
Be on the lookout for the QR code which has been placed around the school. Scan, submit and get recognized for your powerful art.
Your donation will support the student journalists of The Laboratory School of Finance and Technology. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.

I love this initiative! I am also a poetry enthusiast because it provides a medium for creative expression. Poems are the perfect way to express ideas and opinions but in a unique and distinctive fashion. There are so many possibilities within the realm of poetry. I really enjoyed both of the poems on the Padlet especially the rhyming schemes. I also found the poem on seasonal depression not only relatable but uplifting and motivational. This is a great way to bring attention to poetry, and I can’t wait to see more of it. Keep up the hard work!

I am also a high school student, and I also believe that poetry is an amazing form of literature and expression. Like you, it gives me the opportunity to be creative and feel liberated by expressing my emotions with art.
I read both of your poems, and I absolutely loved your style of writing. The first poem about Winter depression I connected deeply with. My mental health is at it’s best in summer, and it’s difficult to get to a place of fulfillment and happiness in the Winter. The struggle in the winter goes deeply unnoticed, so I am glad that you chose to write about it. The second poem about feeling unappreciated is also a topic that many high schoolers feel. As a young teenager, especially a high school reporter, I relate with you how our work/goals/and passions go unnoticed. It’s frustrating when you give it your all, but your work and dedication are not reciprocated. While I understand you might have feelings of doubt or anger, I highly encourage you to keep going even when it feels like everyone is against you (or not noticing you). Your hard work will pay off in the future.
I loved your poems!!

I love how you guys are highlighting other writing projects and trying to involve people all over your school! It shows the importance of writing to you guys, and how much you want to increase creativity all around.

I love the way you describe the power of poetry in that a thousand poems with the same message can look, sound, and read in distinct ways. Your words are really compelling, and I think your readers will definitely be interested in submitting their own work. This initiative is such a great way to open up important discussions in the school community and foster student interaction! Keep up the great work 🙂
