When it comes to the middle school and high school parts of our school, they almost never interact, coming together for things like talent shows, bake sales, etc. Even though we sort of interact in these kinds of events, we never really get to know each other or communicate for reasons other than work. So it was a shock when we really got to interact with each other and talk about something that affects all of us, our community. That is what happened on Spring 2025 Career Day.

During this career day, the seventh-grade team went to some high schoolers to get their view on how our community operates and how they contribute to it. They asked different questions and the high schooler, of course, gave their entire insight on it and answered the questions we picked out for them fully. For us, we interviewed a 12th grader named Elizabeth. Elizabeth didn’t just answer questions about our school community but also outside our school community, which can also affect our school community. Elizabeth expressed her concerns about pollution, drug abuse, and her safety concerns. However, she expressed that people have become more motivated to help each other and that she can see the community getting better. She also expressed her gratitude to her teachers. As a 12th grader, she stated that she was grateful to her friends and teachers for pushing her to do her best and if it wasn’t for that, she wouldn’t be where she is now.

Listening to the high schoolers’ opinions about our community was fascinating to listen to. This is because the high schoolers are much more experienced than us and have been in this community for a much longer time. They understood things better than us, so it was a good learning experience on our part, and it was quite fun as well, because Elizabeth was very nice and laid back. In our words, the Spring 2025 Career Day was a success.
