We want to shine the spotlight on one special staff member who has made a significant impact on my and many other students’ educational journeys. This educator is Mr. Carter!
Mr. Carter tackles subjects that shape our understanding of both past and present with remarkable skill and sensitivity. He teaches Social Studies, Economics, and AP African American Studies. Walking into his classroom just feels different, a good difference.
“I like Mr. Carter for many different reasons.” said Brandon Easton (Class of 2026). “I have had him since 8th grade and he was always very kind and welcoming. He is always helpful. When he teaches it is always easy to understand because of how well his communication and teaching skills are.”

He always has positive energy and you can tell he is a kind spirit. Whether he’s breaking down economic principles or leading discussions about race and society in America, Mr. Carter has a gift for making complicated topics feel accessible without oversimplifying them.
“He’s an amazing teacher,” said Isaiah White (Class of 2027). “Even though I just met him last year he’s very nice and teaches his class well.”
Overall he had created a really safe learning environment where every student feels heard and valued. During class discussions, his ability to make sure every student participates and learns shows how truly he loves his job and understanding he is. Mr. Carter is a motivator.
Going more in depth into the subjects he teaches and why he desires to be thanked for it. His AP African American Studies and his regular social studies class, he is able to demonstrate his talent for handling sensitive topics with both academic rigor and personal care.
“I feel like he brings a positive vibe anywhere he goes” said Lizbeth Turbides Baez (Class of 2025).”I’ve nothing but good things to say about him”
He is able to encourage his students to examine historical events from multiple angles and bring history that had been hidden into light. In Economics, he helps his class see how economic principles play out in our daily lives. Mr. Carter is actually investing in his students’ growth as people, not just as learners. He is the type of teacher you don’t just come across, you have to be lucky to find him.
“He’s made full on meal for his students” said Mr. Lopes. “The way he interacts with students is with compassion and respect and he’s just overall super friendly.”
His dedication extends beyond regular school hours. You’ll often find him after class, patiently explaining a concept to a struggling student or engaging in thoughtful discussion with those who want to dig deeper into a topic. He’s the kind of teacher who remembers your interests and brings up articles or books he thinks might inspire you.
“Overall he’s very sweet and welcoming” said Sil Quzeada (Class of 2025). “He’s also a very good mentor and he has pushed me to continue with my art journey and helped me find what’s best for my college applications and overall a huge support with college”.
