Last year, after an amazing 9-2 season, Eagles Lacrosse faced a heartbreaking defeat in the semi-final round of the playoffs. This season, Eagles Lacrosse is ready to come back better than ever, with championship aspirations in mind. The first game of the season is in less than 2 weeks, on March 14th. This will be the first of 12 games happening from March 14th through May 1st.
The team has been working very hard this offseason and plans to hang another banner in the gym this year, despite the adversity and difficulties that may approach. Each player has been working on improving their skills to perfection, whether that be on defense or offense.
Junior, Carlos Espinosa says, “…we need to work on communication. There’s a lot of on and off communication, on the field and off the field as well.” They are very fierce and aggressive but are still able to focus up and stay cool headed just enough to make those tough split second decisions in game. Junior, Justin Charon says, “… to be the best defensive midfielder on the team. That’s my end goal, to lock anyone up.” There is clear passion and desire for these boys to do great things this upcoming season.
Now that we’re on the topic of improvement, it is known that some of the players tend to struggle academically. Academic results are detrimental towards the sport season, a couple of players won’t get to play during the first few games due to this. But these determined athletes are still working hard to be able to represent the Eagle name and reputation. They are learning to improve on and off the field. The hunger for another banner will push them hard enough to get things done and perform.
